Are you interested in developing your skills as a grassroots organizer? Do you want hands-on experience recruiting and training environmental advocates to change the course of the future and to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf region? Then the Grassroot’s Leadership Intern position is for you!
The Gulf is an amazing natural resource that is dying the death of a thousand cuts. In every Gulf community, there are specific environmental issues that must be addressed, and they often fit into larger regional efforts. Using similar organizing skills and activities throughout the Gulf region, Grassroot’s Leadership Interns will work on the GRN campaign most relevant.
The Grassroots Leadership Intern will work on the GRN’s public outreach and community involvement activities. Gulf Restoration Network conducts grassroots outreach at events across New Orleans and the Gulf, including the Arts Market of New Orleans, Freret Market, the Poboy Festival, and the Voodoo Experience. We train volunteer advocates on the critical environmental issues here in the Gulf and on conducting outreach to the public. Our advocates do the critical work of engaging the public in the fight for a healthy Gulf, and the Grassroots Leadership Internship offers a motivated student the opportunity to become a driving force in grassroots organizing and public environmental education in New Orleans.
