SUMMARY:Dwyer Community Volunteer Day - New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:Healthy Gulf is leading a one-day community beautification and environmental education event supported by Culture of Cleanliness. The event will bring together volunteers coordinated through NetWork Volunteers\, including middle-school students from California\, ages 12–14\, and chaperones and staff. \nMelia\, Rosedale\, and Pines Village Neighborhood Associations will be invited to participate. Volunteers will beautify the three rain gardens installed along Dwyer by Urban Conservancy in partnership with the neighborhood associations\, beautify Digby Park\, and conduct litter abatement along the Dwyer Walking Trail. \nParticipants will document the types of debris collected\, infrastructure failures\, and quality-of-life or code-enforcement concerns. They will also receive education on pollution\, climate\, and the circular economy. The event will end with a closing gathering at Digby Park. \nTuesday\, September 15\, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to know what kind of pollution is being generated in your community? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ECHO website makes it easy to find facilities in your community that discharge pollutants to air\, water and land. It also reports information on whether those facilities are in compliance with the law.\n\nJoin us as we share how you can use ECHO to find pollution sources in your community and get engaged to make sure they are following the law and working to protect environmental and human health. This session is led by staff from Healthy Gulf: Matt Rota\, senior policy director\, and Christian Wagley\, coastal organizer FL – AL.
