Major Gifts Officer

Status: 3/4-time Exempt                                        Reports to: Executive Director

Location:  New Orleans


Salary:  $40,000-45,000 for 32hrs/week (depending on experience) plus generous benefits, including health insurance (after 30 day waiting period), dental insurance, short term disability insurance, 2 weeks paid sick leave and 3 weeks paid vacation.

Major Gifts Officer is a ¾ time (32hrs/week) position that will be responsible for working with and assisting the Director of Membership and Community Fundraising and the Executive Director to ensure that the organization raises funds to fulfill GRN’s mission and implement our Strategic Plan.


  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement GRN’s major donor campaign. Cultivate business and individual donor relationships from prospect to major donor through a comprehensive donor engagement strategy, meeting with donors regularly by phone and in person, and providing documentation in GRN’s donor database.
  • Manage GRN’s Aveda Earth Month partnership to educate salons, provide materials, and support the fundraising activities of Aveda each spring.
  • Work with the Director of Membership and Community Fundraising and Communications Director to:
    • Support GRN fundraising events.
    • Write fundraising appeals, including an end of year campaign, for direct mail and on-line giving to increase GRN’s individual and group membership base.
    • Design yearly fundraising plans and strategies to support program and administrative needs, and provide an annual analysis, suggesting adjustments as needed.
  • Serve on GRN’s Management Team on team building, planning and budgeting.
  • Work with the GRN Board of Directors to develop plans for individual board member fundraising.
  • Contribute to GRN’s publications, web site, and other external communications vehicles.



This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two years of experience as a fundraising professional. 3+ years of fundraising experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
