Community storyteller

As Community Storyteller, Dwayne works to bring the stories of impacted communities to life. A New Orleans native, Dwayne’s civic-minded roots run deep in the community having worked with the Volunteer and Information Agency (now Vialink), the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and WWOZ (first as Membership Director, then for 18 years as the Program Director). As Program Director, he was in charge of overseeing program scheduling and event coverage, coordinating multiple departments, and working with directors and production staff. He produced live event broadcasts including: New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, French Quarter Festival, Gulf Aid, and A Great Night in Harlem. As a native New Orleanian, he has an in depth knowledge of the musicians, music and cultural history of the city and the region. He is also a Board Member for CubaNOLA Arts Collective, Upturn Arts and Engulf.
