Gulf Coast Sequestration has applied for a permit to drill and operate two carbon waste injection wells for the Minerva carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Cameron Parish. Carbon dioxide, which would be transmitted by pipeline to these wells, is an asphyxiant and could pollute drinking water. The Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy is currently accepting public comments on this proposed permit.

Community voices matter. Louisianans throughout the state are raising legitimate concerns about this and other CCS projects. This public comment period is an opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and ensure state regulators fully consider the potential impacts to our land, water, and wetlands before making a final decision.
