In Memoriam of Hal Suter

“For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.” Kahlil Gibran

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Healthy Gulf board member Hal Suter, from Corpus Christi, Texas. Hal had served on our board since 2013. Hal was a lifetime member of the Sierra Club and was very active in the Lone Star Chapter and its Coastal Bend Regional Group. He had the distinction of being the  longest-serving Chair of the Executive Committee for the Lone Star Chapter. He was instrumental in bringing the Apollo Alliance, a coalition of organized labor, environmental groups, businesses, and social justice groups, to Texas. He also served as chairman of the Beach Access Coalition, working to keep the beaches on the middle Texas Coast open to the public. His passion for the environment will be missed greatly in the Gulf South. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues in the movement as they navigate this incredible loss.
