This weekend marks nine years of partnership between Gulf Restoration Network and Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. Each year, GRN joins thousands of festival goers in New Orleans’ City Park for a weekend full of incredible music, great food, compelling art and good times.Just like in years past, GRN has a booth at the festival, and our volunteers and staff will be around talking with festival goers about our work to defend the Gulf’s coast and communities. (Our booth is full of cool goodies including t-shirts, a photobooth and an epic Drawing Robot from Zehnder Communications that will be churning out custom images all weekend. Be sure to stop by!)We all know that New Orleans is home to some of the richest musical and cultural traditions in the world. City Park, the festival site for Voodoo, sits over 100 miles from the Gulf coast. But, right now, Louisiana is losing a football field worth of wetland every hour – inching the Gulf closer and closer to this vibrant city. This weekend, we’re asking festival goers, artists and musicians to take action to restore the coast. Join us – No coast, No music.Yesterday, GRN staff met with singer-songwriter, Ryan Bingham to chat about land and life in the Gulf. We had a great time with Ryan, and truly appreciate his support to protect and restore our precious coast. Throughout the festival, GRN will be meeting with artists to connect with them about protecting our coasts and communities.
