Alex Horn
Communications Director
Alex has spent two decades working at the intersection of conservation science, environmental policy, and strategic communications. She holds a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and is inspired by tackling conservation challenges from both a scientific and human perspective.
Alex has worked as a Federal biologist, run Sierra Club’s Florida Panther Campaign and the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation’s outreach program, and for the last five years has worked as a contractor for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, leading strategic communication plans, developing national campaigns, and working to deconflict ocean spaces. She most recently led NOAA’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science’s Marine Spatial Planning communications team.
Alex has been recognized with awards like NOAA’s Employee of the Year and featured in Australian Geographic for innovative conservation work. She also has held DEI leadership positions at NOAA as well as with local nonprofits in Florida. Outside of work, Alex loves exploring Florida’s parks with her family, thrifting for vintage furniture, and hanging out in the garden with her rescue dog and cat.
