We’re beach people. The sun, the sand, the water, the good vibes and happy people we know we’re biased, but really, is there anything better? This lifelong love of life by the water has made our yearly decision to partner with the Gulf Restoration Network for Aveda Earth Month an easy one. With locations in Sandestin, Orange Beach, and Pensacola Beach, we are keenly aware of the breathtaking natural beauty of the gulf and how much is at stake if we fail to adequately protect it. And as Gulf Coast locals and small business owners, we see it as our job to do so.Many of you all have helped in our Earth Month efforts over the years: attending Cut-a-Thons, purchasing wellness and beauty packages whose proceeds benefit GRN, and spreading the word on social media. And while every Earth Month has been exceptional in its own right, this most recent one was particularly so especially for Jen Peck, our Lead Recruiter and Senior Stylist. Jen experienced Earth Month from a new perspective (literally) when she had the opportunity to fly over the Alabama National Seashore including wetlands, current development projects, and our beautiful beaches with GRN. She was joined by our wonderful SDP, Dana Kasuba. For Jen, the experience was an especially meaningful one. “Being a Gulf Coast local,” she says, “I support any organization that is dedicated to environmental education and restoration.” And indeed, Jen has worked GRN since 2008, when she started at the Aveda Institute St. Petersburg. As you can imagine, this experience only strengthened her commitment to the organization and its mission.”I’ve always been passionate about Earth Month partnering with Aveda,” she says, “but my entire experience has opened my eyes to the ” why’ we raise funds and spread knowledge to create change. We have so much power to make the world a better place especially here on the Emerald Coast.” Just looking at her pictures, we feel the same way and we think you all will, too. Thank you again for all you’ve done over the years to support our Earth Month efforts and keep our coast beautiful. These are views we’ll never get tired of taking in! Guest Blogger Jen Peck is Lead Recruiter and Senior Stylist at Fusion Spa Salon. Aveda salons across the south raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to support GRN’s work. We’re honored to show Jen and Dana what a difference their fundraising has made for Alabama’s coast.
