Hurricane Isaac Disaster Recovery Resources

Hurricane Isaac has had an enormous impact on Gulf Coast communities, many still recovering from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike and, of course, the BP oil disaster. Although these communities are hailed for their resiliency, most recently by the president himself, we know that the road to recovery is long and hard. Additionally, sometimes not knowing where to look for resources can hinder the recovery process. From our 18 years of experience as an advocate for the Gulf, GRN understands this and is committed to being a resource for information. Here are some important numbers and website to help your recovery begin:Resources For LouisianaGovernor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP)(225) 925-7500Louisiana State Police(225) 925-6325 or *LSP from any cell phoneLouisiana State Police Road Closure Hotline(800) 469-4828If you come across oil in Louisiana, the state asks that citizens report possible oil related debris to both the National Response Center at (800) 424-8802 and the 24-hour Louisiana Emergency Hazardous Materials Hotline at (877) 925-6595.Please also report your finding to the Gulf Restoration Network at jonathan@healthygulf.orgor (504) 525-1528Please provide as much information as possible;-description of location and direction on getting to the location-description of deposited material-photos if possible-contact information for person submitting locationOrleans Parish:Locations Providing Supplies (ice, water, MRE’s, varies by location) -5501 Read Blvd in New Orleans East near the intersection of Read and Lake Forrest Blvd;””2730 Vespasian Blvd on the West Bank700 Poland Avenue in the BywaterNon-Emergency Hotline – Debris Removal -Dial 311Jefferson Parish:Locations Providing Supplies (ice, water, MRE’s, varies by location) -Alario Center, 2000 Segnette Blvd., Westwego”Butch Duhe Playground, 1710 10th St., Kenner”Harahan City Hall, 6437 Jefferson Hwy., Harahan”Helen Cox High School, 2200 Lapalco Blvd, Harvey”First Parish Court, 920 David Dr., Metairie”FOR LAFITTE RESIDENTS ONLY: Lafitte Town Hall, 2654 Jean Lafitte Boulevard, Lafitte”FOR GRAND ISLE RESIDENTS ONLY: Grand Isle Fire Department, 2757 LA Hwy 1, Grand IsleBEAT THE HEAT Red Cross Shelters:In East Jefferson:Mike Miley Playground, 6716 West Metairie Ave., MetairieLittle Farms Playground, 10301 South Park St., River RidgeOn the West Bank:Kings Grant Playground, 3805 15th Street, HarveyPARD Playground, 5185 Eighty Arpent Road, MarreroJefferson Parish Emergency Management(504) 349-5360Sign up for Emergency Alerts at www.jalert.comJefferson Parish Streets (504) 838-1150Plaquemines Parish:Locations Providing Supplies (ice, water, MRE’s, varies by location) -Idlewild, 11422 Hwy 23 in Belle Chasse (Tarps an Ice available)Port Sulphur Fire Station, 114 Civic DriveBoothville-Venice Fire Station, 42661 Hwy 23A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has been set up at the Belle Chasse Auditorium at 8398 Hwy 23 in Belle Chasse.
