Louisiana has submitted an application to take primary responsibility for the permitting of geologic carbon waste injection facilities, Class VI injection wells, from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Class VI wells are used to inject and permanently store carbon dioxide in underground geologic formations.
This carbon waste injection technology is extremely risky, completely unproven to work as advertised, and only serves to extend the era of fossil fuels and bolster fossil fuel industry profits–all while Louisiana struggles with massive non compliance with our wetlands and pollution laws. Building wetlands and fixing broken wells is the faster climate solution!
Take action today to defend Louisiana communities and ecosystems from reckless industrial expansion and unsafe and unproven carbon capture and waste injection schemes.
Tell the EPA to deny Louisiana’s request to oversee the carbon waste injection program in the state!
