My first official event with GRN was an exciting one. This past crowds formed on Julia Street for White Linen Night. I didn’t have to go far – just downstairs to the GRN lobby – for our Green Gallery featuring pop up shops by Heartsleeve, Tchoup Industries, Goods that Matter, and art by Pippin Frisbie-Calder.It was a tight squeeze, but that didn’t stop the constant flow of people from coming in to see everyone’s amazing work. From bayou bags and t-shirts, to meaningful gifts and beautiful woodcut prints, there was something for everyone. Even our smaller guests enjoyed the complimentary cheese and crackers, while mom and dad hit up the vino and bubbly. It was moving to see all the support GRN and their partners received from the community. And this didn’t only include the locals. Since I was staffing GRN’s table, I had the opportunity to speak to several out-of-towners visiting the city. They were really excited to hear about our Earth Month Drawing in September and jumped at the chance to win a trip back with the Grand Prize Rediscover New Orleans Package. This hot August night was a great start to my experience with the organization. I look forward to many more events, working with some amazing people for an even better cause. Casey is GRN’s Development Intern.
